This years Fall collection took place from March 16th to the 20th at Nathan Phillips Square in Downtown Toronto with the skating rink just in front. I was volunteering at with the fashion environment. I was dead tired on the Wednesday I was there. St Patrick's Day was just Tuesday night, and guess who didn't sleep or even go home before heading off in heeled black boots, tights, shorts and a feathered hair clip done Whitney Port style.

There I did anything and a bit of everything. Arriving at 3 pm, my
not so glamorous first task was getting a coffee from Timmys and a overpriced Redbull from across the street making me feel oh so intern like. Secondly to grab sticky trays and bus, looking for empty wine glasses and water bottles. Then off to the media filing room, pretty much standing in front being a tiny bouncer that I am. Nearing five o'clock I was handing out program books at the front of the door while the Andy the Anh show played on the LG screens around the environment.

Wednesday night I got my first taste of fashion, I went into the long awaited Pink Tartan Show. Inspired by the 80s, mostly black with shots of bright pinks. Lots of mixture with streamlined and volume, straight skinny leather pants paired with a silky fuchsia top. Also seen was a mix of masculine and beautifully feminine in the black suits with pink lace tights. I think the show stopper was the dyed fur coat that faded from grey to white from the bottom up. This collection has a strong contrast against her summer 60s inspired collection. Unfortunately I enjoyed the flirtyness of the summer collection much more.

On Friday I was determined to get into more show
s, if I am going to be carrying heavy bottles of water around I deserve to be fed with fashion. I got there again at 3pm, when the door were not open yet, cleaning and organizing the environment and chatted with other volunteers, planning where to stand during the shows. Among the volunteers I met people ranging from pre-lawyers to someone that works at Sick Kids Hospital. People started to pile in for the last seasons project runway contestant shows, among the crowd was Sunny, Kim, Adejoke and Jessica ( by the way you can buy her episode 6 dress at selected winners store I think I might go take a look this weekend! )

I went into the Carlie Wong show. Frankly I was kind of disappointed. Sure I loved the femininity, the flow of the gowns and
the burst of glamour in the gold floral patterns. For me it was just a bit bland and I think I just set my expectation high for her. Sorry! But the cute thing was she walked the whole runway herself that I loved.

The next was Project Runway winner Evan Biddell, I was excited for this one. You go in for a show and he gives you a show. To loud rock music, the first look was stomped out by Stacie Mackenzie, and she is fierce believe me, despite her large lips. He used large doses of purple, green, yellow, grey and teal. The collection was streamlined and clean played with zippers, chunky knits and a bit of volume here and there. My favourite was the little dresses, the first was yellow and purple with black weaving detail the other was made with a comic and zebra print. It was loud and very Biddell.

The week ended with Lucian Matis. I wasn’t a big fan of his during the show but this collection blew me away. Amazing. Nymph like hair paired with antlers, can it get more fairytale than that? The collection was feminine, soft and silky. Each piece has exquisite detailing. My favourite with a black dress covered in black rectangular sequins with a softer top with a big bow, worn with black sequined gloves. It was like amour for the city girl.

So this is it, last of fashion week
But first post for me.
We’ll see where this takes me.
